About
Jennifer Mackenzie
After working for a number of years in the corporate world, I decided to pursue a career aligned with my values. I chose to complete my masters of social work because of the discipline's non-pathologizing, strengths-based approach. I fundamentally believe that we all want meaning and purpose in our lives - this is universal. People are the experts in their experiences and understand best what is meaningful and purposeful to them. However, sometimes working with a therapist can provide a different perspective that allows clients to gain fresh insights. To be open to these new insights, people must feel safe and free from judgement, and I strive to create a therapeutic relationship characterized by respect and trust.
Since changing careers almost 20 years ago I have supported people navigating many issues. My particular areas of expertise are grief and loss, chronic illness, caregiver stress, relationship issues, anxiety, and substance abuse. I work with adult and young adult individuals, couples, and families. Please reach out if there is a particular concern you would like to discuss.
About
Jennifer Mackenzie, MSW RSW
After spending several years in the corporate world, I made a deliberate shift toward work more aligned with my values. I pursued a Masters of Social Work because of the discipline’s non‑pathologizing, strengths‑based approach and its deep respect for peoples lived experiences.
I believe that the desire for meaning and purpose is universal. People are the experts in their own lives and are best positioned to understand what feels meaningful and purposeful to them. At times, however, working with a therapist can help you to achieve the changes you seek. Therapy can provide a different perspective—one that supports new insights and greater clarity. For this process to be helpful, people need to feel safe, respected, and free from judgment and I strive to create a therapeutic relationship grounded in trust, collaboration, and genuine respect.
Over the past 20 years, I have supported individuals, couples, and families through a wide range of challenges. My areas of particular expertise include grief and loss, chronic illness, caregiver stress, relationship concerns, major life transitions, and substance use. I work with adults and young adults and tailor my approach to meet each client’s unique needs and goals.
